Verde Valley Habitat

Building Strength, Stability and Self-Reliance through shelter.

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity (VVHFH) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and low income, working families in our community. Our partner families are required to make a minimal down payment, contribute 300- 450 hours of “sweat equity,” and pay for their home through an interest free, no-profit mortgage. They come from all walks of life and through VVHFH, they will become first time homeowners.

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone everywhere deserves a decent place to live. Our program gives people a “hand up, not a hand out.” We empower families who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream of home ownership. Everyone in your community wins when Verde Valley Habitat develops and sells affordable housing to qualified deserving families. People in the Verde Valley partner with Habitat to build or improve a place they can call home.  With our a little help, our new homeowners achieve the strength, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

How Can I Help?

As a private non-profit organization, all of our funding comes from local contributions and partnerships. Donations of goods, services, and cash help to cover our operating costs, fund the building of our homes, obtain land for construction, and provide valuable services to our homeowners. Your financial support, your voice, and your time will help bring strength, stability and independence to families in need of a decent place to live. Decent shelter is something we all need to thrive.  With a little help we all have the potential to stand on our own. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors donate money and materials to build Habitat houses. Our new homeowners themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor – “sweat equity” – into building their homes, and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Working together, sided by side, helps to build stable communities.  Through shelter we empower!
