Habitat No. 8 in US!

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity helped Habitat for Humanity International achieve the ranking of No. 8 on the Builder 100 list; marking the first time the non-profit has been among the top 10 biggest builders in the United States. The list also shows Habitat, with 5,294 closings last year, moving up three spots in 2009 from its 2008 ranking of No. 11.

Locally, Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity placed 2 families in the last fiscal year and dedicated house #11 in March of 2010.

About Us

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.  Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, working in partnership with people in need to build simple decent, affordable housing.

The houses are sold to partnering families at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families repay Verde Valley Habitat through a 20 year mortgage.

As a private non-profit organization, all of our funding comes from local contributions and partnerships. Donations of goods, services, and cash help to cover our operating costs, fund the building of our homes, obtain land for construction, and provide valuable services to our homeowners. The only way we can continue our mission to build homes is if people from the community - people like you - get involved and help. There are many ways you can become involved in the Habitat mission and help a family in need to realize their dream to own a home.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors donate money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes, and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

The Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate represents the communities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Cornville, Rim Rock, Lake Montezuma, Sedona and other nearby communities.  Most recently we built homes in the Rim Rock and Lake Montezuma communities where land is more affordable and conducive to our self-help ownership program.

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity, Inc., was founded in 1995.
The chapter has completed it's 11th home and is in the planning stages to build 2 homes in 2011. Through your loving hands and donations, House #11 was dedicated on March 21, 2010. View our Spring and Summer Homemaker Newsletter for photos of this project.

Yours in community service,
