Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.  Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, working in partnership with people in need to build simple decent, affordable housing.

The houses are sold to partnering families at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families repay Verde Valley Habitat through a 20 year mortgage.

As a private non-profit organization, all of our funding comes from local contributions and partnerships. Donations of goods, services, and cash help to cover our operating costs, fund the building of our homes, obtain land for construction, and provide valuable services to our homeowners. The only way we can continue our mission to build homes is if people from the community - people like you - get involved and help. There are many ways you can become involved in the Habitat mission and help a family in need to realize their dream to own a home.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors donate money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes, and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity, Inc., was founded in 1995.  The chapter has completed it's 10th home and is in planning stages to build 2 homes in 2009. Construction should begin on House #11 in the Spring, with House #12 in the Summer of 2009.

The
Verde Valley affiliate represents the communities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Cornville, Rimrock, Lake Montezuma, Sedona and other nearby communities.  Most recently we built homes in the Rim Rock and Lake Montezuma
communities as land in these areas has been more affordable and conducive to our self-help ownership program.

December 2008

We are pleased to announce the dedication of house #10, which was dedicated to the Lerma Family on December 21st. Over 40 friends, family and volunteers were on hand to make this a special Christmas gift!

We would like to remind all volunteers to come to the volunteer office and update their 2009 volunteer waivers. And don't forget to mark your calendars for our Volunteer Appreciation Ice Cream Social, scheduled for Sunday, January 18th. See more on the Volunteer page of this site.

If you have items to donate to our store, please call our volunteer services office at 928-649-6788 to discuss your donations. If you would like to shop, please feel free to drop by.  We are open Thursday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Please note that we do not accept after hours drop-off, so please call for a pick up time or to arrange a donation drop off time.

Yours in community service,
